Joe Furlonger is amongst Australia’s greatest landscape painters, yet is invariably modest. When decades of work returned to his studio in 2018 following the closure of the Ray Hughes Gallery in Sydney, he tells me, “It is like my own little retrospective. I have found some gems, and some dead ones, but there you go. They go from one end of the spectrum to the other.
