Yesterday, five advance copies of LINDE IVIMEY arrived in Sydney. Today, via overnight courier, a copy arrived in Brisbane. It is sumptiously printed. Thanks are due to Linde Ivimey, whose intriguing work graces the pages of this publication, Martin Browne, who instigated the idea of a book, facilitated its introductions, and has guided the detail and minutiae of this project, Sylvia Weimar and her team at Spacelab who fulfilled the vision, and UQ Art Museum for their generous support as publishers.
All pre-publication readers of this book were moved by Ivimey’s resilience, determination, and the power of her work. The emotional content of the sculptures is palpable in this highly pictorial book. It includes a DVD made by Louise Turley that takes the viewer into the artist’s studio, revealing something of Ivimey’s process and intensity.
The book will be available from November 3, 2012 from UQ Art Museum, Brisbane, http://www.artmuseum.uq.edu.au/publications-2011-2012, and from Martin Browne Contemporary, Sydney, http://www.martinbrownecontemporary.com/.
Retail price is $50, 192 pp, Hardback.
